Our Project Mission

To harness the power of technology to promote inclusive, transparent, and accountable governance in Uganda, while ensuring a safe and secure online environment.

The Digital Democracy Project aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • To promote e-governance and digital transformation in public institutions, enhancing service delivery and citizen engagement
  • To foster a safer internet environment through awareness, education, and advocacy, protecting citizens from online harms and promoting digital literacy
  • To leverage digital platforms to amplify citizen voices and facilitate meaningful participation in democratic processes
  • To promote transparency and accountability in governance through data-driven research and advocacy

Our Digital Democracy Project engages in activities that promote online safety and security.

Being safe on the internet protects you from various online threats, including cyberbullying, identity theft, scams, malware, and reputational damage. It also preserves your sensitive information, increases online confidence, and promotes better digital citizenship. By prioritizing online safety, you can enjoy a secure, trustworthy, and positive internet experience.

As we commemorate Safer Internet Day 2025, BARO reaffirms its commitment to promoting online safety, digital literacy, and responsible internet use.

In pursuit of this goal, we are proud to announce our partnership with the Internet Society Uganda Chapter, together striving to create a safer and more inclusive online environment for all. Through this collaboration, we aim to empower individuals, especially women and girls, with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the internet confidently and securely, ultimately contributing to a safer and more harmonious digital society.
